About Me

My theme

Thank you for visiting my site! My name is Abi, and I’m daily learning to be courageous in a world of plot twists. Each new chapter of my life — from getting braces to getting married — has arrived with potential pitfalls for fear, but God always proves Himself a faithful deliverer. My hope is that you know Him as this, too.

As co-heirs with Christ (Eph. 1), we can live in triumph.

“Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord!” Psalm 31:24

Whenever I see God’s grace lavished through my story in a new way, I desire to testify to His Words with my words. I don’t have anything new under the sun except His mercies which are new every morning.

I love teaching and writing mostly because I grew up with a mom who lines her walls with bookshelves and has read almost all of her collection.

Here are a few literary twists to note:

  • I traveled to Prince Edward Island and drank raspberry cordial.
  • I enjoyed interviewing one of my favorite authors who created my fictional heroine Millie Keith.
  • I wrote a novel about a camp counselor.
  • Plot Twist Tuesdays capture sporadic, unexpected Tuesdays where I post book reviews or creative work.
  • I used to coach writing and hope to again one day as time allows.

I’m so grateful for how the Body of Christ has invested in me! We have much to learn ourselves, but my husband and I love encouraging young people to serve and grow in the context of our local church. Recent ministry posts: The Splendorous Bride We Slander, Five Prayers for the Drive to Church

I spent most of my childhood in plain, beautiful Kansas. My parents, 7 younger siblings, and I  moved to Idaho after I graduated high school. Even though my husband Luke and I BOTH grew up in the Midwest (KS and NE), were pastors’ kids, and attended college in Kansas City, but we didn’t meet until our mid-twenties … on Facebook!

After long-distance dating, I convinced Luke to move to the northwest, and we were married six months later on July 6th, 2019. In our free time, we enjoy sports, hospitality, and traveling.

In 2017 I began working at Mission Aviation Fellowship headquarters and love the opportunity to serve our missionaries by proofreading and processing their prayer letters. My favorite passion is making the Rehmert apartment into a home and supporting Luke, who is an online seminary student with Midwestern Baptist and a faithful Husker fan.
