A November Prayer

Hallowed be Your name, oh Lord. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

We’re on the brink of a loaded November, and only You know what will come.

I know it will cause us all to need You just as much as we always have. Please bring us humility from Your heart and wisdom from Your storehouses.

We ask You, like the psalmist did, “Do not grant, Lord, the desires of the wicked; Do not bring about his evil planning, so that they are not exalted.” (Psalm 140:8)

Do not let us exalt the wicked or let sinners entice us to share their purse and walk in the way of death with them (Proverbs 1). Do not let us exalt ourselves. Do not let us exalt our leaders.

We’re in a sort of exaltation whiplash, where we praise a name and then unfollow a name in the span of days, because of our opinions. Guard us from idolizing rightness and forsaking righteousness.

May we exalt YOU alone. Magnify Your name in bursts of glory but also in the slow weaving through time, when we can’t even see how you’re working.

Would You align our hearts with Your truth so that we aren’t tempted to give Your glory to another? We know Your reign and rule are forevermore. Your gospel is to be exalted and treasured. Your peace is the only real peace far as the curse is found.

Use us to teach Your perfect ways to the nations, starting with our own. Our cup runs over, Lord. Thank you for life eternal, freedom to worship, and joy of Your radiance. No matter the place we live, teach us to remember:

“where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

2 Corinthians 3:17

All glory, praise, and honor be to Your Name! Amen.
